What Quillin’ does with your data
Quillin’ is a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) extension. This means:
- Your API keys are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. They are never transmitted to us or any third party other than the AI provider you've chosen.
- Text you submit for grammar checking, rewriting, or translation is sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Mistral, Groq, or a local Ollama instance). It does not pass through any Quillin’ server because there isn't one.
- Your standing instructions, rewrite styles, and settings are stored locally on your device. We cannot access them.
What we collect
The extension: nothing. The Quillin’ extension has no backend, no analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect, store, or transmit anything you type, check, or rewrite. There is no Quillin’ server between your browser and your AI provider.
The website: almost nothing. quillin.uk has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking cookies. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us through the contact form, described below.
The contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic, and message you enter. Your submission is delivered to our inbox as an email: it passes through a Cloudflare Worker we run and Resend, our email delivery provider, on its way to our mailbox. The Worker does not store your message; Resend processes it to deliver the email and retains delivery logs under its own privacy policy.
- We use what you send us to reply to you, and for nothing else.
- If you pick a "notify me" topic (a future subscription option, or the Mac app), we keep your email address solely to send you that one heads-up when the time comes. No newsletter, no marketing list.
- If you send an idea or use case for our Ideas page, we may publish the idea itself on the site, as described in the Submissions section of our Terms of Use. We will not publish your name or contact details without asking you first.
- We never sell or share your details with anyone.
- Want your message or email address deleted? Ask through the same form or by mail, and we will delete it.
Website hosting & fonts
quillin.uk is a static website hosted on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare processes visitors' IP addresses and standard request logs to serve and secure the site. We do not add any analytics or tracking on top.
Our typefaces are self-hosted on quillin.uk. Your browser does not contact Google Fonts or any other third-party font service when you visit this site.
